Check out the Guinness World Records Skate Park at X Games 14!

X Games

Next week we will be making our annual pilgrimage to the largest action sports event in the world - X Games 14 - to be held in Los Angeles from July 31st to August 3rd.

This will be the fourth consecutive year we are attending an event massively attended by all as evidenced by the 138,000 fans which came last year. The X Games themselves receive enormous coverage; in 2007 online X Games video clips were viewed nearly 3 million times on ESPN.com, EXPN.com and ESPN360.com. On television 35.6 million people tuned in and telecasts of the event were the highest-rated ever among young male viewers.

Our presence takes the form of judging Guinness World Record attempts by professional athletes and public alike, autograph signings, book raffles and giveaways and essentially securing as much exposure for our book and brand as possible. This year Guinness World Records will be officially presenting the X Fest Skate Park which translates into having our very own branded skateboard park (100 ft x 60 ft) which will provide us with a great space for everyone to try and get their name in the Guinness World records book during the premier action sports event of the year!

Previous years have included certificate presentations to Shaun White, Tony Hawk and Travis Pastrana as well as watching 16-year-old Kristos Andrews step forward from the public last year and nail 23 kick flips in one minute!   This year’s activities include seeing who can break the record for most ollies in 30 seconds and longest handstand on a skateboard, a Guinness World Records-sponsored mobile phone SMS quiz based on the X Games spread in the new book as well as targeting BMX legend Dave Mirra and guru skateboarder Bob Burnquist for autograph sessions and certificate presentations.

So please stop by the X Fest at the Home Depot Center and check out the Guinness World records Skate Park where you can be a record breaker too!
